10th anniversary of the European Pharmacists Forum:
a decade of supporting independent pharmacists across Europe
The final European Pharmacists Forum (EPF) seminar of 2009 has today concluded in Florence, marking ten years since the EPF was first established in 1999. To recognise this occasion which took place on 3 and 4 December, EPF members reflected on the progress that has been made in the years since it began its work.

The third European Pharmacists Forum (EPF) seminar of 2009 has today concluded in London, bringing together independent pharmacists from across Europe to discuss key issues affecting pharmacy and share ideas.

European Pharmacists Forum elects new President
European pharmacists meeting at the third 2008 seminar of the European Pharmacists Forum (EPF) which took place on 9 and 10 October in Lisbon, Portugal, have elected Joao Silveira as the new President of EPF. Joao is a practising pharmacist in Portugal and is the owner of Farmacia Suissa. Joao is also Vice-President of the Portuguese national association of pharmacies (Associaçao Nacional das Farmácias - ANF) and has been a member of the European Pharmacists Forum for a number of years. He succeeds Elvire Kuyck of the Netherlands, who is stepping down as President on completion of her three-year term.

European Pharmacists go to Utrecht
The most recent EPF Seminar took place in Utrecht, The Netherlands, on 29 and 30 May. The two-day event included seminars, presentations and Q&A sessions. Representatives of Alliance Healthcare, Kring, the Dutch health ministry as well as the health insurance industry gave presentations relating challenges and opportunities of the changing Dutch healthcare market.

The first European Pharmacists Forum (EPF) of 2008 took place in Brussels and focused on European Commission (EC) policy issues including pharmacy legislation and deregulation.

European Pharmacists meet in Milan
The final European Pharmacists Forum (EPF) of 2007 was held in Milan on 6 and 7 December 2007. During the two-day seminar, delegates were given an insight into how the American community pharmacy model has strengthened its position over the past 25 years, took part in various group discussions and heard how one EPF member created a chain of 165 pharmacies.

The third European Pharmacists Forum (EPF) of 2007 took place in Prague on 27 and 28 September. The seminar included an overview of the Czech market, as well as a wide range of presentations and interactive discussions.

The second European Pharmacists Forum of 2007 was held in Moscow for the first time on 14 and 15 June 2007. The two-day seminar involved a programme of tours, presentations and interactive discussions as well as a debate on the Russian Market.

Lisbon hosts first EPF of 2007
Portugal provided the venue for the first European Pharmacists Forum of 2007, held in Lisbon on 15 and 16 February 2007. The event comprised a series of presentations and seminars as well as a tour of the headquarters of the Portuguese association of pharmacists (Associação Nacional das Farmácias - ANF). Themes covered by the forum included the emergence of a new distribution model and a vision for European Pharmacy.

EPF Round Table in Rome -"Market evolutions and Pharmacy: Opportunities and perspectives"
The European Pharmacists Forum (EPF) held a round table discussion on 30 November in Rome on the theme of "Market evolutions and Pharmacy: Opportunities and perspectives". The Round Table was organised alongside the last of the quarterly EPF seminars for 2005. The first three seminars were held in Paris (February 2005), Amsterdam (June 2005) and London (September 2005).

"Forum" - the newsletter for independent pharmacists across Europe
The European Pharmacists Forum (EPF) has just launched the first edition of its quarterly newsletter "Forum" for independent pharmacists across Europe. The newsletter provides a regular update on developments affecting community pharmacy in the eight European countries represented within the EPF, and reports on the meetings of the European Pharmacists Forum which take place quarterly, bringing pharmacists together to debate key topical issues and share best practice. The European Pharmacists Forum is sponsored by Alliance UniChem as a way of cementing its partnership with independent community pharmacists and ensuring that its portfolio of services is tailored to their needs.
