Challenges facing our sector and the world at large

In the midst of an ever-changing globalised economy, customers have more power than ever before, meaning businesses have to be more profitable and offer increasingly better value for money. Such changes mean that agility in business really is key to success.

These shifting patterns in the wider economy are having a knock-on effect on our world in the healthcare sector, and if we do not adapt our ways of working, these changes could very well be at our expense. Consequently,
pharmacists must continue to break away from traditional ways of working and develop new services in close partnership with manufacturers. A further important threat to today’s pharmacy sector comes from large supermarkets and retail giants. Therefore, in order to survive, independent pharmacies need to contend with variations within the economy and evolving competitor activity.
